Gold Coast Titans

Rugby League Australia - NRL Club Fan Site

2007 saw the rebirth of rugby league on the Gold Coast with the Titans joining the NRL competition. Dressed in a playing strip of sky blue, gold and white, the Gold Coast Titans were very competitive in their inaugural season, winning their first game and staying in contention for a finals berth well into the second half of the season. They recruited well, gaining the services of representative players and consistent performers across the paddock.

Lack of depth in fundamental areas of their roster let the Titans down during various stages of the competition. Injuries to key players in vital positions didn't help their cause either. The season also saw some off field drama but the club handled the situation very professionally and were able to easily minimize fallout. All in all, their re-entry to the National Rugby League competition was a success and there were signs to suggest they will become a force very quickly.

If they can improve their depth of talent and experience an injury-free period, the Titans will challenge even the best of NRL teams in coming years. Rugby league has had a checked history on the Gold Coast but the latest incarnation seems to be ultra-professional and ready for anything anyone can throw their way, ensuring there will be plenty of tries scored, lines broken, goals kicked, tackles made and sets completed for the Titans in the future.
