Cronulla Sharks
Rugby League Australia - NRL Club Fan Site
The Cronulla Sharks are the oldest club in the NRL not to have won a premiership. They have been around for forty odd years but have never managed to take home the silverware. Their teams have boasted some of rugby league's most revered legends, prolific try scorers, accurate goal kickers, line breakers, hard hitters and work horses, but it just hasn't been enough to win at the most important times. I don't think they have even made a grand final since the 1970s despite claiming the minor premiership on at least one occasion.
The Sharks showed some signs of being premiership contenders in 2007 but slipped out of contention in the latter stages of the competition. A lot of their young players have gained invaluable experience throughout the year and can only improve. Next year could very well be Cronulla's year if they can show some resilience in the face of adversity and hone their attacking skills. They have some rugged and tough forwards and now is the time for them to step up and lay the foundation the team needs to win.
The Cronulla fans can be seen dressed in sky blue, black and white and cheering loudly for their beloved Sharks. They enjoy a local derby with rivals St. George, which usually consists of fiery battles and sparks a plenty. Their fans can look forward to seeing their side play a very attractive brand of rugby league in the coming seasons, with a coach who demands success and a playing roster rivalling any other club in the competition.
