Manly Sea Eagles
Rugby League Australia - NRL Club Fan Site
The Manly Sea Eagles have arguably the most loyal fan base of any NRL club. Known as 'the team everyone loves to hate,' they garner very little respect from other club's enthusiasts. It takes a very brave soul to don the maroon and white and proudly walk the streets. As far as playing football goes though, they are a very accomplished side indeed. They were one of the most consistent teams in 2007, putting in good performances week in, week out.
Manly made the grand final only to be outplayed by the Melbourne Storm on the day. They played some great rugby league throughout the year and it's just a shame that someone has to come second. They scored some really exciting tries and appeared in some of the more memorable games of the year. I don't think it will be too long before this team is celebrating, due to the fact they have a great roster of excellent young players and a stable of evergreen veterans.
The Sea Eagles are well and truly back after a bit of a dry spell after the failed merger with North Sydney. It was good to see them near the top of the table all year, just like the old days. Rugby league is alive and well on the northern beaches thanks to the positive attacking play and bruising defence that has become their signature game plan. Now that they are finding some success again, people all over Australia are starting to dislike them all over again.
