Newcastle Knights

Rugby League Australia - NRL Club Fan Site

The Newcastle Knights have had a short but successful history so far. They would prefer to forget their 2007 NRL season, where they only narrowly missed out on securing the wooden spoon in the last round. Rugby League is, without doubt, the most popular sport in the region and the area has produced a lot of great players for many sides over many years. The club has entered what we like to call a rebuilding phase and plans are in place to ensure the team rises to its former glories in the not too distant future.

The Knights are famous for constantly fielding a ferocious pack of forwards that love to tackle for the full eighty minutes. They are inclined to field powerful defensive centres and an all round consistent backline, with reliability being a key factor in the selection process. Having said that, let me say this, Newcastle has also developed some of the most lethal attacking players rugby league supporters have ever seen. Let's face it; if your team can't score tries, they're not going to win many games.

The Newcastle Knights stadium is always packed out with a biased crowd wearing blue and red. Opposing teams dread making the trip to play them. Beating Newcastle in Newcastle is something every team strives to do and teams successful at it usually exploit the bragging rights to the nth degree. It shouldn't take too long before we see this side climbing up the NRL premiership ladder once again, proving that rugby league is strongest when this mighty team is on top of its game.
