Brisbane Broncos

Rugby League Australia - NRL Club Fan Site

The Brisbane Broncos have been a very successful rugby league club over the course of their existence. One of three Queensland teams in the NRL; they won their third premiership in 2006, beating minor premiers Melbourne. 2007 didn’t provide many highlights for the team due to many injuries but they will bounce back as they inevitably do. Being the only club based in Australia’s third largest city, they consistently attract large crowds to their home games, ensuring a torrid time for visiting teams.

The Broncos traditionally play a very entertaining style of football with lots of second phase play and broken field running. They usually recruit tough forwards and a backline mixed with individually brilliant players and solid defensive athletes. Rugby League is the major winter sport in Queensland and the inhabitants of Brisbane really know how to support their club. Maroon and gold are the dominant colours found on the team’s playing strip and supporter paraphernalia around the ground.

Many of rugby leagues legends of recent memory have sprung from the Brisbane Broncos roster. Their players have been prominent in both Queensland and New South Wales state of origin teams and filled positions in the Australian Kangaroos on countless occasions. The club has provided some of the most prolific try scorers and some of the most ferocious tacklers in the history of the game. As long as the Broncos are in a healthy position rugby league will flourish in this country.
